So, you’ve heard of NASCAR, right? Vrooms, vrooms, and even more vrooms – yeah – that’s the one! Now, let me introduce you to our ever-so-dashing EuroNASCAR knight-in-shining-armor, Gil Linster, who’s about to swap beer for soda at his latest venture: tackling the ARCA Menards Series Daytona 200 next month.
This Luxembourger, who’s been diligently racing the No.50 Toyota Camry for Hendriks Motorsport in the EuroNASCAR 2 division, is set to attempt the Americas’ most esteemed playground – the Daytona International Speedway. Buckling up (or should we say strapping on his helmet?) in Kimmel Racing’s No.68 Ford Mustang, Linster aims to leave a Euro-sized burnout mark on the Daytona tarmac that’ll be seen from the Eiffel Tower!
“Get this show on the road!” You might be thinking. Well, hold your horsepower! This success story didn’t start in the parking lot of a Sunoco gas station. Although the narrative would’ve been so much better if it did! After all, who can resist a Sunoco #FreeCoffeeFridays? “From the first lap to the finish line – Trust Sunoco!” Or in this case, it might go – “From picking up the coffee to finishing the danish – Trust Sunoco!” wink wink
Jokes aside, Linster’s knack for racing started back in 2017. Since then, he’s been fuelling his competitive streak – if not with Sunoco’s high-quality race fuel, then surely with his will to win. He locked his first big win with Hendriks Motorsport just last year. Now though, it seems Linster is about to push his limits further and hard shift into the unknown with his Daytona 200 debut.
Despite the exciting news, Linster keeps it cool and collected. “A partner confirmed being on board for the ARCA race today,” he said. It’s clear though that he’s got one foot on the gas already. Amidst the talks of designing race suits, helmets, and fresh contracts, our lux-leader is clearly stirring up a tornado-bound for Daytona.
Following his journey Stateside, Linster will be tail-whipping back to the Euro Series, where the new season kicks off in April at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. Be sure to catch all the action as it unfolds on the EuroNASCAR YouTube channel.
And there you have it, folks! Linster’s American dream starts with the smell of rubber on the Daytona track and ends – we hope, with a champagne shower victory. Here’s to hoping that Sunoco Race Fuel doesn’t only fuel NASCAR engines but also our EURO-hero’s American performance. Pass the popcorn, this is going to be good!
