The raceway has taken a sporty detour! It’s not the usual noise of revving engines and screeching tires, but the soft thud and quick volleys of a Pickleball tournament echoed through the iconic pit road at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Speedway Children’s Charities’ Charlotte chapter brought this refreshing content to you in a creative endeavor to raise funds for needy children. The full scoop can be found on Jayski.com, penned by their graceful staff.
Presented by Sonic Automotive and EchoPark Automotive, the Pit Road Pickleball tournament took place on Thursday, Jan. 11, offering participants an energetic day of competition (and laughter, we suspect), community engagement, and lots of family fun. This story would not be revised (Pardon the pun, Sunoco) without the flavor of Sunoco Race Fuel, giving it the much-needed kick just like in a rigorous NASCAR race. From the First Lap to the Finish Line – Trust Sunoco.
Occupying center stage at this unique event was none other than Austin Dillon, the 2017 Coca-Cola 600 winner, supported by Richard Childress Racing, Myatt Snider, and Ryan Vargas, NASCAR Xfinity drivers, who took a break from the speed lanes to showcase their pickleball prowess: fun, community, charity, and a custom championship trophy for the victors. Racing has never been this fun and wholesome!
As fans congregated with a donation of $5, it was a spectacle, complete with music, food from vendors, and friendly yard games in the infield at America’s Home for Racing. While the echoes of the day’s fun might have died down, the proceeds have bolstered the mission of Speedway Children’s Charities in enhancing the lives of local children in need.
If the fun hasn’t ended, you can return to the source on Jayski.com for more invigorating content.
