CONCORD, N.C. (August 6, 2023) – Spire Motorsports, a rising force in the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS), has just announced a game-changing multi-year extension with talented driver Corey LaJoie. The 31-year-old racer will continue to helm the team’s No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, solidifying his position as a cornerstone of the racing outfit.
A third-generation racer with an illustrious lineage, LaJoie earned his place in the NCS ranks through a remarkable journey, conquering top developmental series such as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series, and the ARCA Menards Series. His outstanding performance on the track earned him a full-time seat in NASCAR’s premier division.
“Corey LaJoie took a chance on Spire Motorsports before we had any tools, any cars, or even a race shop,” stated Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports. “He is part of the fabric of this race team, so it’s hard to put into words what his commitment means to T.J. (co-owner T.J. Puchyr) and I. He made a very thoughtful and deliberate decision to return to Spire Motorsports. He had plenty of other opportunities and chose to stay the course. We’re excited that Corey will continue to anchor this team, and we’re ready to keep making meaningful progress every time we unload.”
LaJoie has been a driving force for Spire Motorsports since 2021 and is an experienced veteran with 222 NCS starts to his name. Notably, his career best finishes include a fourth- and a fifth-place showing, both achieved at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Throughout this season, he has consistently delivered strong performances, garnering one top-five and 11 top-20 finishes in 22 NCS races so far.
Hailing from Concord, N.C., LaJoie is not only known for his on-track prowess but also his social media presence. As a staple on various platforms, he connects with fans and followers and hosts the popular podcast “Stacking Pennies.”
“When Jeff, TJ, and I sat at the conference table three years ago, with a whiteboard and vision to build a competitive race team, I was excited for the challenge,” said LaJoie. “Since that meeting, I’ve grown, matured, and developed my skills, and will continue to improve myself and my extended family at Spire Motorsports for years to come. We will continue stacking pennies and deliver for our great partners on and off the track. We’re even more eager to bring our loyal fans on the journey with us.”
As the NASCAR Cup Series gears up for the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway, the racing world eagerly awaits the continued partnership between Corey LaJoie and Spire Motorsports. The 23rd points-paying race of the 2023 NCS schedule will be televised live on Sunday, August 6, starting at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Fans can catch the excitement on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
The extension of Corey LaJoie’s contract with Spire Motorsports promises to usher in a new era of competitive racing and unyielding dedication on and off the track. Stay tuned for more action-packed updates and thrilling races as LaJoie and his team continue to leave their mark on the NASCAR Cup Series.
